Join us for an exciting silversmithing class in Ramsbottom, where you will learn all the techniques needed to create your very own sterling silver ring from scratch. This workshop is ideal for beginners looking to delve into the traditional art of silversmithing and jewellery-making. During the class, you'll learn essential silversmithing techniques, including threading a piercing saw, sizing your ring, forming, soldering with a blowtorch, shaping using a hammer and mandrel, filing, polishing, and refining by adding textures. Don't worry if you're new to this craft – we'll guide you through every step, ensuring a supportive and encouraging atmosphere. The use of traditional tools and materials may seem daunting at first, but you'll quickly find joy in working with your hands and transforming raw materials into a wearable piece of art. By the end of the workshop, you will not only have a newfound understanding of silversmithing but also a unique sterling silver ring that you've personally designed and created. If you have specific ideas in mind for your jewellery piece, feel free to share them with us beforehand, and we'll do our best to bring your vision to life. The workshop takes approximately 3 hours to have your ring completed; however, courses can run over by approximately 20 minutes. The workshop is at my home studio in Ramsbottom, with refreshments included.
